Athletics Couldn’t Generate Enough Firepower

Oakland’s Shea Langeliers got them on the board again in the seventh with an RBI single that scored Bolte, a rallying cry that arrived far too late in the evening. Joshua Kuroda-Grauer went 3-for-4 for Oakland and should be commended for at least making consistent contact, but one player’s solid night doesn’t win games when you’re facing Cy Young caliber pitching. Skubal was simply in a different stratosphere on Tuesday, and the Tigers’ front office should be feeling optimistic about where this rotation is headed down the stretch. As for Oakland, nights like this are the kind that define seasons, and they’ll need to regroup quickly before this loss becomes a pattern they can’t escape.
