The Atlanta Braves put on a clinic in run production on Friday night, dismantling the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-3 at Truist Park behind a dominant performance from Mauricio Dubón and solid pitching from Martín Pérez. This was vintage Braves baseball, the kind that makes you wonder why anyone thought Pittsburgh had a chance walking into this ballpark.

Dubón was the story of the evening, absolutely carrying his team offensively with four hits, including a mammoth two-run bomb in the third inning and an RBI double in the fifth. He didn’t blow anyone away with overpowering stuff, but he didn’t need to. The Braves offense was so prolific that Pérez could afford to be methodical. Two walks were his only real blemish in an otherwise clean performance.

That’s the kind of line that loses baseball games, especially against a team as talented as Atlanta’s lineup. Keller was wild, imprecise, and ultimately ineffective when it mattered most.

Atlanta’s Depth Shows Through

What made Atlanta’s performance so convincing was the balanced attack. Yes, Dubón carried the load offensively, but look at the supporting cast. Ronald Acuña Jr. drove in a run with a single. Austin Riley knocked in another with a double. Dominic Smith contributed a sac fly. This wasn’t a one-man show, it was a team collectively punishing Pittsburgh’s pitching staff.

The Braves defense also looked sharp when it mattered, with Michael Harris II making an outstanding basket catch and Ozzie Albies flashing leather with a slick snag. Raisel Iglesias cleaned up with a save in the ninth, proving Atlanta’s bullpen is back to being something resembling trustworthy.
