That’s not a pitching line, that’s a cry for help. Atlanta’s Dylan Lee didn’t throw much, but he didn’t need to, securing the win with a 1.1 inning effort that showcased the Braves’ dominance.

The opening inning told you everything you needed to know about this matchup. Ozzie Albies provided the early damage with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first, scoring Ronald Acuña Jr. Michael Harris II followed that up by slapping a single through the right side to score Mauricio Dubón. That should have been enough, but then Xavier Edwards answered back with a solo shot off the Braves’ pitching to keep Miami in the conversation briefly.

The damage accelerated when Kyle Stowers delivered a two-run double that made it 4-2 Miami after just one inning of play. For a moment, Marlins fans could breathe. By the bottom of the third, Esteury Ruiz’s sacrifice fly extended the Marlins’ lead to 4-2, and it looked like we might have a ball game on our hands. Spoiler alert: we didn’t.

Braves Methodically Dismantle Miami’s Pitching

Matt Olson proved why he’s the heartbeat of this Atlanta lineup by going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. His sharp line drive double in the fifth scored Acuña and cut the deficit in half at 4-3. But it was Harris’ solo home run in the sixth inning, a line drive to center field, that tied this game and shifted momentum permanently in Atlanta’s favor.

The Braves’ killer blow came in the eighth inning when they manufactured three runs that essentially buried Miami’s slim hopes. Mauricio Dubón’s RBI single put runners in scoring position, and then Olson delivered a two-run single that made it 8-4. That was the game right there. Ha-Seong Kim added salt to the wound with a ninth-inning RBI single that capped the scoring.

Marlins Utterly Outmatched

This wasn’t a contest so much as a systematic dismantling. The Marlins got production from Xavier Edwards and Otto Lopez, who went 3-for-4, but that was the sum total of Miami’s offensive highlights. The Braves simply had more answers at every turn. Harris finished with two hits and a homer, Dubón scattered three hits across five at-bats with a run driven in, and Olson’s lumber kept coming at the worst possible times for Miami pitchers.

Tuesday night at loanDepot park belonged entirely to Atlanta. The Marlins will need to regroup quickly because this wasn’t even close to competitive baseball at the end. The Braves showed precisely why they’re built to contend, and Miami showed precisely why they’re not.
