Pete Alonso, Baltimore’s addition to boost their lineup, struck out after a violation and never fully impacted the game. That’s disappointing for a team that was banking on his presence to change their fortunes.

Ryan Thompson earned the win for Arizona with a clean inning of relief, and Juan Morillo locked things down with a save. This pitching performance won’t be remembered as spectacular, but it got the job done when it mattered.
