Braves Pummel Angels Behind Holmes, Olson’s Power

The Atlanta Braves showed up to Angel Stadium on Wednesday ready to work, and Los Angeles’ pitching staff paid the price. When you put up those numbers against a lineup like Atlanta’s, you’re going to get shelled.

Olson’s Bat Delivers the Knockout Punch

Matt Olson came through in the third inning with a two-run blast that essentially put this game out of reach. The line drive to center field off Detmers was the kind of no-doubt shot that tells you everything you need to know about which team showed up ready to play. Olson finished 1-for-4, but that one hit mattered. This is what elite power hitters do, they make one swing count.

The Braves struck early and often. Ozzie Albies got things rolling with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, and Jonah Heim followed with an RBI double down the right-field line in the second. By the time Mauricio Dubón delivered a two-run double in the fifth, the Angels were running on fumes.

Jo Adell had a solid night with three hits, including what would have been a birthday game to remember if his team hadn’t gotten embarrassed at home.

Logan O’Hoppe did draw an RBI walk after his challenge was upheld, but it came far too late for any meaningful impact.

The Braves looked like a team that came with a plan and executed it to near perfection. Holmes worked out of trouble, the lineup capitalized on opportunities, and the defense stayed sharp. This is the kind of road win that matters in April, and it sends a message that Atlanta is serious about making noise in 2026.

The Angels need to regroup quickly. Getting shelled at home, particularly with Detmers unable to locate his stuff, is concerning.
