The Milwaukee outfielder was a one-man wrecking crew, finishing with four hits and four RBIs while launching two home runs. His back-to-back homers in the fifth and seventh innings kept the Brewers dangerously close, making this a genuinely tense finish rather than a blowout.

Milwaukee’s Heroic Effort Falls Just Short

The Brewers showed real fight and genuine talent at the plate. Beyond Chourio’s stellar night, Garrett Mitchell smashed a two-run home run in the fourth, and William Contreras provided timely hits to keep his team in the game. Christian Yelich added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. These weren’t cheap runs; they were earned by a lineup that actually competed for nine innings.

But the Phillies’ depth proved the deciding factor. Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-5, Brandon Marsh contributed three hits including an eighth-inning RBI single, and Sosa’s early solo shot proved more significant than it appeared at the time. The Phillies had multiple weapons firing simultaneously, whereas Milwaukee’s offense ultimately centered around Chourio’s heroic efforts.

The bullpen work from both sides was adequate if not spectacular. Tim Mayza earned the win with a minimal appearance, while Jhoan Duran saved the game with a clean ninth inning. For Milwaukee, Shane Drohan’s strong start was ultimately wasted by that brutal sixth inning.

This was a game both teams will remember differently. For Philadelphia, it was a statement win on the road against a quality opponent, showcasing their ability to manufacture big innings when they matter most. For Milwaukee, it was a frustrating loss that slipped away despite genuine offensive production. Chourio’s performance deserved to be on the winning side, but baseball doesn’t always work that way. The Phillies simply had more runs when it counted.
