Langeliers understands his role and executes it without ego.

Too Little, Too Late

Baltimore did manage to score two runs in the eighth inning when Colton Cowser delivered a two-run single off what was presumably a tired Athletics bullpen. It was theater masquerading as a comeback. With a six-run deficit and momentum already long departed, the Orioles’ late scoring felt like showing up to the party after it had already moved on to the next venue.

The Athletics added another run in the ninth through Colby Thomas’s RBI single, putting the final nail in Baltimore’s coffin. Oakland’s pitching staff cruised to the finish line, with Joel Kuhnel sealing the deal in style.

This game should serve as a reminder to the Orioles that late-inning heroics mean nothing when you’ve already surrendered the plot.
